HAMMOND, La. – Trick-or-Treat at the Ballpark, and players taking batting practice in Halloween costumes, highlight the upcoming Heart of a Lion Fall World Series as the Southeastern Louisiana baseball team wraps up practice over the next two weeks.
Series festivities kick off with the team draft Monday evening. Seniors
Kevin Carr,
Brett Hoffman,
Kyle Keller,
Sam Roberson and
Jacob Williams will serve as team captains, selecting their own teams. Fans can follow @SLUathletics on Twitter for real-time draft results.
Teams will have a chance to practice once, Tuesday, before the five-game series begins Wednesday at 6 p.m. Game two is slated for Oct. 31.
Halloween festivities begin at 4:30 p.m. with batting practice. A home run derby, in which children in costume will be allowed to shag baseballs, will follow. A family-friendly atmosphere with candy, decorations and music will provide a safe Trick-or-Treat alternative leading up to the 6:30 p.m. first pitch.
Game three is slated for Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. Games four (Nov. 3) and five (Nov. 5) will both begin at 6 p.m.
Admission is free to all five games at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. Fans can also watch the entire series on Lion Vision, Southeastern's subscription-based video feed available at www.LionSports.net.
The final two intrasquad games prior to the series will be this Friday at 2 p.m. and Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
Performances during the world series will be incorporated into the baseball program's Heart of a Lion team-building competition held each fall.
