Rough First Day At Track Regional For Southeastern

First-day competitors fall short of qualifying for nationals

GREENSBORO, N.C. – It was a rough day for three Southeastern Louisiana track & field athletes competing in the NCAA Track & Field East Preliminary Rounds Thursday at Irwin Belk Track located inside North Carolina A&T's Aggie Stadium.

None of the three competing qualified to advance to the championships the first week of June in Eugene, Ore.

Alicia Noel ran really well today, in fact it was her second-fastest time ever in the event,” coach Sean Brady said. “It was just an exceptional field.”

Noel completed the women's 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.08, finishing 37th.

Jeffrey Milliron turned in the highest Southeastern finish of the day, 22nd, in the men's discus throw with a mark of 169 feet, 3 inches. Phillippe Moore finished 36th in the men's long jump (22-07.25).

Southeastern still has six athletes left to compete during the final two days of the meet.

Derek Hampton and Casey Revere (men's javelin throw), as well as Brittany Pfantz (women's pole vault), compete Friday.

Lady Lion javelin throwers Jenna Baker and Misha Frazier, as well as Jonathan Kinchen (men's hammer throw), wrap up the competition Saturday.

Live stats and a live video stream of the meet, courtesy the NCAA, is available at www. LionSports.net.
