Southeastern Competing For Championship-Level Marks

Nine athletes look to earn championship bids in Greensboro

Event Schedule

GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Nine Southeastern Louisiana University track & field athletes continue their season Thursday through Saturday in the NCAA Track & Field East Preliminary Round at Irwin Belk Track located inside North Carolina A&T's Aggie Stadium.

Qualifying teams and individuals will advance to the 2013 NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 5-8.

“Our spirits are high,” coach Sean Brady. “We look good and rested from conference.  I think it's just a matter of staying sharp this last week, going in and not getting overwhelmed by the competition.”

Jeffrey Milliron will be the first Southeastern athlete to compete as the men's discus throw opens the meet Thursday at 10 a.m. Phillippe Moore (men's long jump) and Alicia Noel (women's 400-meter hurdles) also compete Thursday. If Noel qualifies for the quarterfinals, she will run the hurdles again Friday.

Derek Hampton and Casey Revere (men's javelin throw), as well as Brittany Pfantz (women's pole vault), compete Friday.

Lady Lion javelin throwers Jenna Baker and Misha Frazier, as well as Jonathan Kinchen (men's hammer throw), wrap up the competition Saturday.

“Realistically, we've got people in position,” Brady said. “If they just do what they did to get to this meet, they'll get in to the nationals. Derek Hampton and Jeffrey Milliron have really good chances of getting to Eugene.”

Live stats and a live video stream of the meet, courtesy the NCAA, is available at www. LionSports.net. The top 12 individuals in each event will advance to the championship rounds the first week of June.

“Our expectations are to go in, be as big as we can be and PR on the day,” Brady said.
