MOBILE, Ala. – Justin Boudreaux went 4-for-5 at the plate with four RBI and belted a two-run home run in the eighth inning that helped Southeastern Louisiana defeat Conference USA opponent UCF, 7-2, on Saturday in the South Alabama Classic at Stanky Field.

Joseph Koon (1-1) pitched 6.1 innings for Southeastern (5-1), scattering six hits and fanning five batters in earning his first win as a Lion. Stefan Lopez pitched the final 2.2 innings for the Lions, allowing one hit and striking out three.

Southeastern will face host South Alabama (5-1) on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The Jaguars rallied with a pair of unearned runs in the ninth inning to defeat Alabama, 10-9, earlier in the day.

Boudreaux snapped a 1-1 deadlock for Southeastern when his sixth-inning RBI single off UCF reliever Bryan Brown (0-1) scored Cass Hargis. Cody Gougler followed two batters later with a two-run double off Johnny Sedlock gave the Lions a 4-1 lead.

After UCF (5-1) cut the lead to 4-2 on Chris Taladay's RBI single, the Lions put the game away when Boudreaux belted a Chase Bradford pitch over the left-center field wall for a 7-2 lead.

Southeastern belted out 16 hits off four Knight pitchers with Hargis going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. Jonathan Pace, Gougler, Brock Hebert and Trey Martin had two hits each for Southeastern.

The Lions opened the game with three straight hits off UCF starter Roy Hanson to take a 1-0 lead. Hargis, Pace and Boudreaux all recorded singles through the UCF infield. Koon, a junior college transfer, retired eight straight batters after issuing a fourth-inning walk to D.J. Hicks.

UCF staged a threat in the seventh inning when Hicks led off with a single and eventually scored on Taladay's RBI single. A one-out walk to Derek Luciano chased Koon and Lopez got UCF leadoff hitter Travis Shreve to hit into a 4-6-3 double play to end the threat.
