HAMMOND – Playing in their final home games of their careers, Southeastern Louisiana seniors Zevy Ivory and Kim Edmonson led the Lady Lions to a dominating 77-50 win over Southland Conference East Division leader Central Arkansas in league women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the University Center.

Honored prior to the game, Ivory matched a career-high with 21 points, while Edmonson netted a career-high six three-point field goals on the way to 20 points. The win allowed Southeastern (11-16, 5-9 Southland) to maintain a two-game lead for the final berth in the Southland Conference Tournament, scheduled for March 9-12 in Katy, Texas, with two regular season games remaining. Central Arkansas lost for only the second time in the last 12 games, falling to 20-7 overall and 10-4 in league play.

Southeastern head coach Lori Davis Jones earned her 100th career victory at Southeastern and was quick to credit her seniors for setting the tone in the crucial victory for the Lady Lions.

“Kim and Zevy did what seniors are supposed to and we fed off their energy in today's win,” Jones commented. “We fell into a hole early, but our team did what they needed to do to win. We're also happy to be able to reach a milestone victory today.”

Ivory and Edmonson were among four Lady Lions in double figures in Saturday's victory. Junior forward Rashima Jenkins scored 14 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds, as the Lady Lions out-rebounded the league's top rebounding team, 41-30. Freshman guard Erica Burgess also chipped in with 10 points off the bench.

Edmonson (6-for-11), Ivory (2-for-2) and junior guard Chelsea Hix (2-for-5) combined for 10 three-pointers. Edmonson became the sixth Lady Lion in school history to surpass 100 career threes, moving into a tie for fifth place with 101 career treys. Benefitting from Southeastern hitting 50 percent (28-for-56) from the floor, Lady Lion sophomore guard Kelli Jenkins dished out a game-high eight assists.

Freshman forward Megan Herbert led UCA with her 26th double-double of the season, finishing with 15 points and 11 rebounds before fouling out with 7:35 left. Freshman guard Micah Rice joined Herbert in double figures with 11 points.

UCA jumped out to a 20-6 lead with 12:38 remaining in the first half. From that point, Southeastern outscored the Sugar Bears, 71-30 in the final 32 minutes.

Southeastern rallied back to take a 37-33 lead at halftime. The Lady Lions opened the half with a 14-4 run and a jumper by Burgess put the Lady Lions up, 51-37, with 14:37 remaining. UCA would get no closer than 13 the rest of the way.

The Lady Lions will be back in action on Wednesday, heading to McNeese State for a 7 p.m. contest.
