Lady Lions Suffer Loss to McNeese Thursday

Southeastern fell to the McNeese Cowgirls in the University Center

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team hosted the McNeese Cowgirls in a 72-30 loss Thursday night.
 
Southeastern (2-15, 1-9 in SLC) was outpaced by the Southland Conference's top team in McNeese (15-4, 9-1 in SLC). The Cowgirls led from start to finish in Thursday's contest, presented by North Oaks Health System.
 
Mia Ramos and Aliyah Collins tied for the team-leading scoring mark with seven points each. Fatime Seck's 12 rebounds led all players in Thursday's contest, earning her first double-digit rebound game as a Lady Lion.
 
Dakota Howard scored a game-high 19 points, going a perfect 8-for-8 from the floor. Arianna Patton was the only other student-athlete in Thursday's matchup in double-figure scoring, posting 10 points. Defensively, Lexi Alexander and Kaili Chamberlin had three steals apiece to pace all players.
 
Southeastern will play game two of its three-game homestand against Nicholls (8-8, 4-5 in SLC) Saturday, at 11 a.m. in the University Center. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on KSLU 90.9 The Lion, online at either www.LionSports.net/listenlive or www.LionUpRadio.org, via the following apps – Lions Gameday Experience, Live365, iHeart, Audacy, TuneIn and MyTuner Radio - or on Alexa speakers (skill must be enabled first). Saturday's game against Nichols will feature Bingo Night. Aisha Marten-Coney will be Saturday's Spotlight Player of the Game. The first 150 fans will receive a trading card featuring the Sydney, Australia native, courtesy of PRIDE.
