SLU Ends Non-Conference Play Against No. 2 Texas

Southeastern (2-8) will visit Incarnate Word Wednesday

AUSTIN, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's basketball team ended regular-season non-conference competition Sunday, in a 120-38 loss to No. 2 Texas.

SLU (2-8) visited the Texas Longhorns (15-0) in the Lady Lions' toughest task of the season. Ranked No. 2 in the latest NCAA Rankings, Texas has championship aspirations, having remained undefeated before the team transitions to conference play.

Eryn McKinzie and Aliyah Collins were SLU's two scorers in double figures against Texas. The Fort Worth, Texas native notched a team-leading 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting Sunday. Aliyah Collins continued her six-game streak of double-digit scoring, posting 10 points in the game.

The Longhorns had seven student-athletes reach the double-digit scoring mark Sunday. Kyla Oldacre led the charge with 22 points, while Madison Booker followed closely behind with 20 points. Jordan Lee (16), Breya Cunningham (12), Bryanna Preston (12), Justice Carlton (10), and Ashton Judd (10) were the other Longhorns to have double figures.

Defensively, Cunningham was the team's rebounding leader with 10 boards to complete the double-double, helping the team to a total of 50 rebounds. Texas succeeded in sharing the ball, totaling 27 assists. Texas forced 30 SLU turnovers to highlight the length of the Longhorns' lineup.

The Lady Lions will end its two-game road slate with a trip to San Antonio, Texas, to face Southland Conference opponent Incarnate Word Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 1 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on KSLU 90.9 The Lion, online at either www.LionSports.net/listenlive or www.LionUpRadio.org, via the following apps – Lions Gameday Experience, Live365, iHeart, Audacy, TuneIn and MyTuner Radio - or on Alexa speakers (skill must be enabled first).
