SLU Closes Road Swing With 4-0 Win at LCU

Southeastern (6-7) returns home to host Missouri State Tuesday at 6 p.m.

PINEVILLE, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team closed out a two-match road trip with a 4-0 win over Louisiana Christian Sunday afternoon at the Richard L. Cromwell Tennis Center.

Southeastern (6-7) swept through singles play and earned three straight-set singles victories to claim the victory. The host Wildcats fell to 4-7 overall this season.

"We played very smart today and were able to build on the positive things we did Thursday versus Wyoming," Southeastern head coach Jason Hayes commented. "LCU is a program with a bright future, so this was a good win for us."

Bente Bierma and Panatchakorn Suanarsa picked up wins in singles and doubles play Sunday.

In doubles play, Bierma and Leana Gomez (2-6) teamed for a 6-1 victory over Patricia Principal Pineda and Ana Sofia Ferrer Martinez on court 1. On No. 2, Alba Perez and Taisia Bolsova (1-1) earned their first win as a pair with a 6-0 win over the LCU tandem of Alexandra Cedeno and Raquel Coelho Rodrigues.

Suanarsa and Bogi Csordas (2-0) teamed for their second win in as many tries as a team on No. 3. The Lady Lion duo took down Tanit Cevada Cruz and Elizaveta Mikhailova, 6-0.

Bierma (6-4) increased her team-high dual-match singles win total with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Martinez on court 4. On No. 6, Suanarsa (5-5) was too much for Cruz in a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

SLU's Kate Oborina (5-1) closed out the victory with a 6-2, 6-3 decision over Rodrigues on court 3. Perez (No. 1), Gomez (No. 2) and Claudia Di Leonardo (No. 5) each were up a set when the match was decided.

Southeastern will return home Tuesday to host Missouri State in a 6 p.m. nonconference match at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
