HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team will compete in the Southland Conference Championships this week at the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
Southeastern (14-8) will be the No. 6 seed in the tournament and will face third-seeded Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (16-4) in the first round Sunday at 10 a.m. With a win, SLU would move on to face the winner of Sunday's first-round match between Northwestern State and UTRGV in Monday's semifinals at 2 p.m.
Tuesday's championship match will be a 2 p.m. first serve. Live scoring for all tournament matches will be available at
www.Southland.org, while Tuesday's championship match will be on ESPN+.
Southeastern is led in singles play by the trio of
Adriana Tirado (16-5), SLC Newcomer of the Year
Paige Duncan (15-4) and
Mariam Tetradze (12-4). Second team All-SLC selections
Aitana Darder and
Taisia Bolsova have a team-best 12-8 doubles record on the No. 2 court. Tirado and Tetradze are 10-7 as a pair, while Duncan and
Bente Bierma come in with a 9-7 mark.
First-team All-SLC selections Yana Mykytyn (15-2) and Kseniya Ramanouskaya (19-0) lead the Islanders. The pair is also a team-best 16-2 on the feature doubles court.
Southeastern dropped a 7-0 decision at home to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi March 13.
