HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Southland Conference women's tennis action Thursday afternoon at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
Southeastern (5-5, 0-1 SLC) had its four-match win streak snapped in a match that was stopped due to rain after the visiting Islanders (10-1, 1-0 SLC) had already clinched the victory.
The Islanders took the doubles point with a pair of 6-1 victories on the top two courts. In singles play, Texas A&M-Corpus Christ earned straight set wins on courts 1, 4 and 5 to close out the win.
Southeastern had taken the opening sets on courts 2 and 6. Shortly after Emma Aucagne's 6-4, 6-1 win over
Alba Perez clinched the match for the Islanders, rain halted the match.
Thursday's match was the first of two SLC home matches in a row for SLU. Southeastern welcomes UIW to town Monday for a 10 a.m. league contest at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
