NEW ORLEANS – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team extended its win streak to four matches with a nonconference victory over Dillard Sunday at the Dillard Tennis Courts.
Southeastern (5-4) took the doubles point and then won five of six singles matches on the way to the victory. Dillard fell to 2-4 overall.
In doubles play, Taiaia Bolsova and
Panatchakorn Suanarsa (4-3) took down the Dillard pair of Yui Suzuki and Rebecca Brisa on No. 1. On court 2, the Lion pair of
Bente Bierma and
Alba Perez (2-0) handled Hang Nguyen and Truc Tran, 6-3, to take a 1-0 lead.
Perez (3-5) won her third straight singles matches with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win over Brisa on No. 1. On court 3, SLU's
Kate Oborina (4-0) remained unbeaten this spring with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Tran.
On No. 4, Bierma (5-4) won her team-high fifth singles match of the spring, sweeping past Anja Hrblijan, 6-1, 6-1. SLU's
Claudia Di Leonardo (6-2, 7-6, No. 5) and Suanarsa (6-3, 7-6, No. 6) earn straight singles victories to close out the 6-1 victory for the Lions.
Southeastern will open Southland Conference play Saturday, hosting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 11 a.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
