HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 nonconference decision to Gonzaga Tuesday afternoon at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
SLU fell to 4-5 overall with the loss, while Gonzaga improved to 7-5 this spring.
In doubles play, the Lion tandem of
Flory Bierma and
Putri Insani (5-2) extended its win streak to five matches with a 6-2 win over Gonzaga's Cate Broerman and Adrianna Sosnowska on the No. 1 court. However, the Bulldogs won on courts 2 and 3 to take a 1-0 lead.
Gabrielle Dekkers was on the verge of closing out a straight-set victory for SLU on court 2, leading 6-4, 5-1 over Sosnowska when the match was decided. However, straight-set wins on courts 1,3 and 4 allowed Gonzaga to secure the 4-0 victory.
Southeastern will return to the court Friday, hosting Southland Conference affiliate member Bryant at 1 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
