Southeastern (4-4) wins for the fourth time in the past five matches

HAMMOND, La.  – Gabrielle Dekkers, Carla Del Barrio, Kate Oborina and Alba Perez won in both singles and doubles play to lead Southeastern Louisiana University to a 7-0 nonconference victory over Bradley in women's tennis action Saturday afternoon at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.

SLU (4-4) evened its record with its fourth win in the last five matches. Bradley fell to 4-6 overall with the loss.

"This was a good win for us against a quality team," Southeastern head coach Jason Hayes said. "We continue to work hard and improve every time out. We're pleased with the progress we've made and want to continue getting better as we get closer to conference play."

In doubles play, Oborina and Perez (1-1) won their first doubles match of the spring, topping Bradley's Alexandra Hidlreth and Madi Rogers on the No. 3 court. On court 2, Dekkers and Del Barrio (2-0) clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory over Anna Belogliadova and Maria Bezmenova.

SLU's Flory Bierma (5-3) made it 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Hildreth on court 6 in singles play. Seconds later, Putri Insani (6-0) continued her undefeated singles start to the spring with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Belogliadova on No. 1 to make it 3-0. Oborina (3-4) clinched the win for the Lady Lions on No. 4, besting Bezmenova, 6-4, 6-0.

The other three singles matches were settled in super tie-breakers. On No. 3, Del Barrio (5-2) outlasted Kirstin Hailey, 2-6, 6-3, 11-9. Perez (4-2) took down Madalena Andrade, 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 on No. 5. Dekkers (4-2) won her third straight singles match with a 5-7, 7-6 (8-6), 10-6 win over Mariia Pukhina on court 2 to close out the victory.

"We were proud of Carla and Gabrielle battling back from a set down," Hayes commented. "We're not always going to play our best tennis, but our willingness to fight can make the difference."

Southeastern will return to action Tuesday, hosting Gonzaga at 2 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
