Southeastern Evens Spring Record With 4-0 Road Victory at JSU

SLU (3-3) extends win streak to three

JACKSON, Miss.  – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team kept its shutout streak alive with a 4-0 nonconference victory at Jackson State Sunday afternoon.

The win was the third straight for Southeastern (3-3). The Lions won on the top two doubles courts and the bottom three singles courts on the way to the win.

"We continue to work hard and today's win was another opportunity for us to build confidence," Southeastern head coach Jason Hayes said. "We'll have a tough match coming up Sunday against Houston, but we'll have time to rest up and prepare."

Southeastern's No. 1 doubles pairing of Flory Bierma and Putri Insani (4-2) extend their win streak to four matches with a 6-4 win over JSU's Paula Arcarons and Daniela Ramos. Lion newcomers Gabrielle Dekkers and Carla Del Barrio (1-0) teamed for the first time this spring on court 2, giving SLU a 1-0 lead with a 6-3 victory over Robin Alston and Tyra Nicole-White.

In singles play, Kate Oborina (2-3) cruised past Ramos, 6-1, 6-1, on No. 4. On court 5, Alba Perez (3-1) had a commanding 6-3, 3-0 lead when Zeina Shaaban retired.

Flory Bierma (4-2) extended her singles win streak to three matches with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over De'Alva Alston. SLU was up a set on the other three singles courts when the match was decided.
