DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team closed out the road portion of its preconference schedule this week with a pair of nonconference contests in Florida.
SLU (1-8) continues to play shorthanded with multiple starters out injured. With the Lions less than full strength, Southeastern fell to Keiser University Sunday and Embry-Riddle Tuesday.
The highlight of the week for SLU came in doubles play versus ERAU Tuesday. On the No. 1 court, the Lion duo of
Flory Bierma and
Putri Insani handled Itxaso Blanco and Carla Cabrera del Hi, 6-4.
Southeastern clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory on the No. 3 court. Freshmen
Polina Paunova and
Bogi Csordas put the Lions up, 1-0, with a 6-2 victory over Julia Mautner and Sabrina Ehrenfort.
SLU returns home to close out its preconference schedule this weekend at the Southeastern Tennis Complex. The weekend's action opens with a 10 a.m. match versus Jackson State Saturday, before LSU Alexandria visits Sunday for an 11 a.m. match.
