Stevic, Storr Headline USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

Lions, Lady Lions Earn USTFCCCA Recognition

HAMMOND, La. – Slavko Stevic and Donovan Storr along with both the Southeastern Louisiana men's and women's track teams earned 2020 United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic awards, the USTFCCCA announced Thursday.

In order to be recognized, each team had to achieve a collective 3.0 GPA or better during the indoor season. Individuals had to earn a 3.25 GPA or better while finishing in the top 96 in any championship individual event or the top 48 in a relay event.

Stevic, a freshman, was one of just 18 male track and field student-athletes to achieve a 4.0 GPA and earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. The Computer Science major finished the indoor season with the 40th best high jump mark (7 feet, 0.5 inches – 2.15m) in the country. The Sremeska, Mitrovica, Serbia native won the Southland Conference Championship in the event March 2 in Birmingham, Alabama.

Storr, out of Andros, Bahamas, helped the SLU men's 4X400 relay team record the 22nd best time in the nation. The senior, along with teammates D.J. Ruffin, James Benson II and Johnathon Sawyer, ran a 3:07.67 in the 4X400 at the Carolina Challenge Jan. 31 in Columbia, South Carolina. The Sociology major completed the spring semester with a 3.26 GPA to earn a spot on the team.

The reigning Southland Conference Indoor Champions, the SLU men, compiled a GPA of 3.09 in the spring including 34 student-athletes with a 3.0 or better. Seven achieved 4.0's including Stevic, Jeffrey Brignac, Adam Cortez, Stevon Crooks, Franck DiSanza, Will Edwards and Kevin Reichart.

The women's team had 31 student-athletes garner 3.0 or better GPAs helping the Lady Lions cumulate a 3.03 team GPA. Nine achieved 4.0s including Angel Collie, Thais Gomes, Nele Gudermann, Andrea Perez, Alexia Stein, Grace Walford, Emma Wette, Charlotte Wising and Emily Wright.
