HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team will begin the home portion of its Southland schedule this week, hosting a pair of league foes at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
The Lions (5-4, 1-1 Southland) hosts Lamar (6-4, 0-2 Southland) at 1 p.m. on Friday. Southeastern welcomes Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (11-3, 1-1 Southland) on Sunday for a noon match.
Southeastern picked up its first Southland win on Sunday, blanking UIW, 7-0. The Lions won on the No. 2 and 3 doubles courts, before sweeping through singles play.
Teodora Mitrovic (6-0, 2-0 Southland) and
Putri Insani (6-2, 2-0 Southland) share the team lead in overall and conference singles victories.
Kim Bohlen (5-1, 1-1 Southland),
Flory Bierma (3-4, 1-1 Southland),
Polina Sleptsova (3-4, 1-1 Southland) and
Ximena Yanez (1-2, 1-1 Southland) have all split conference matches.
Insani and Yanez (6-2, 0-1 Southland) are SLU's top doubles pairing, while Bierma and Bohlen (6-1, 1-0 Southland) have been effective on the No. 2 court. Sleptsova and
Katya Cornejo (1-0, 1-0 Southland) are the latest Lion duo to look for success at No. 3.
Laura Sola Grau (8-2, 2-0 Southland) has the top singles record for Lamar. The Cardinals' top doubles pairing is Natalia Molina and Bianca Vitale, who come to Hammond with a 5-3 mark as a team.
The quartet of Victoria Delattre (10-2, 1-1 Southland), Emma Honore (10-3, 2-0 Southland), Kei Kato (10-1, 1-1 Southland) and Camille Townsend (10-1, 2-0 Southland) share the team lead in singles victories for the Islanders. Honore and Kato have teamed for a 9-2 doubles mark.
