CONWAY, Ark. – Southeastern Louisiana opens Southland Conference action with a three-game series this weekend against Central Arkansas. Games are slated for 6 p.m. Friday, 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at Bear Stadium.
The conference series at Central Arkansas (5-7, 0-0 Southland) is part of a five-game road trip for the Lions (5-7, 0-0 Southland).
Games Friday and Sunday can be heard in the Hammond area on the flagship station of the Southeastern Sports Radio Network – KSLU 90.9 FM – in addition to online at www.LionSports.net/ListenLive and via both the Lions Gameday Experience and TuneIn Radio apps.

Southeastern, which has lost four straight on the road, dropped a 6-3 decision Tuesday at No. 20-ranked LSU. The Bears are coming off a 10-2 loss Tuesday in Nashville, Tennessee at No. 2-ranked Vanderbilt, the defending national champions.

Nick Ray (.267) at the plate. Burke also leads the squad with five extra-base hits, including a pair of home runs.
Champ Artigues has driven in a team-high 11 runs while Finke leads the team with nine stolen bases.

Trey Shaffer (3-0, 1.15) draws the pitching nod in the series opener, facing Bear right-hander Gavin Stone (2-1, 1.93). Sophomore right-hander
Grant Upton (1-0, 1.00) heads to the bump Saturday to oppose Central Arkansas southpaw Noah Cameron (0-1, 3.00). Southeastern has yet to announce a starting pitcher for the finale, but the Bears are slated to send out righty Mark Moyer (2-0, 3.86).
Connor Emmet (.435), Beau Orlando (.368) and Hunter Hicks (.318) are the Bears leading hitters. Ben Ayala owns a team-high three home runs and nine RBIs. RJ Pearson leads the team with four steals.
Southeastern holds a 24-20 advantage in the all-time series, including a 12-10 edge in Conway. The Lions are 12-9 vs. UCA under
Matt Riser and have a 2-1 record in the Southland Conference Tournament against the Bears.
Last season, Central Arkansas won 2-of-3 games in Hammond, Louisiana. UCA won the first two games, 3-1, in 12 innings, and 3-2. Southeastern won the series finale, 3-2 in 11 innings.
The teams faced each other again in the conference tournament at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, Texas. The Lions won the initial matchup, 9-3, forcing a rematch the next day. UCA eliminated Southeastern, 6-3 in 10 innings, advancing to the tournament championship game.
Southeastern wraps up its five-game road trip Tuesday in Ruston, Louisiana with a 6 p.m. game at Ruston High School against Louisiana Tech.
