HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team will open Southland Conference play with a pair of road matches this week.
SLU (4-3) opens league action on Friday with a 1 p.m. match at Abilene Christian (4-7). On Sunday, the Lions head to UIW (3-5) for an 11 a.m. match with the host Cardinals.
Southeastern will be coming off a nearly two-week layoff when it takes on the Wildcats. The Lions haven't played a match since a 4-0 loss to Wyoming on Feb. 16.
SLU finished the preconference portion with a 19-11 team singles record. Freshmen
Kim Bohlen and
Teodora Mitrovic have matching 4-0 records at the bottom of the singles draw.
Putri Insani shared the team lead with singles victories, as she has a 4-2 mark on the No. 1 singles court.
Insani and
Ximena Yanez (6-1) carry a six-match win streak into this week's action on the No. 1 doubles court. Bohlen and
Flory Bierma are 5-1 splitting time between courts 2 and 3.
Claire Fisher has a team-best 6-1 record in singles play to lead ACU. Sarah Adams and Nini Memishishi (4-3) comprise the Wildcats' top doubles pairing.
Sophia Kermet (3-2) and Alejandra Tamayo (3-2) share the team lead in singles victories for UIW. Kermet and Taylor Parkinson have a team-best 3-0 record at the bottom of the singles draw.

Following this weekend's action, Southeastern opens the home portion of its conference schedule on Friday, March 6, hosting Lamar at 1 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
