SLU Hosts Mississippi State for Midweek Contest

Lady Lions, Bulldogs face off Tuesday at 6 p.m.

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team will return home on Tuesday to host Mississippi State at 6 p.m. at North Oak Park.
 
The Southeastern Sports Network will offer a free video stream of Tuesday's game between the Lady Lions (8-3) and the visiting Bulldogs (9-1). Tune in online at www.LionSports.net or the Lions Game Day Experience app for Android or iOS devices. Fans can also watch on Southeastern's YouTube channel (/SLUathletics) with any mobile, tablet or smart TV device (e.g., Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Android TV and Roku).
 
Tuesday's game will also feature a Cane's Challenge. If the Lady Lions score three or more runs, fans can redeem their game ticket or student coupon at their local participating Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers to receive a free combo with the purchase of another of equal or greater value.
 
Southeastern is returning home after a 3-2 showing at the UF Bubly Invitational, hosted by No. 8 Florida. The Lady Lions earned wins over Longwood and Florida A&M (twice) during their trip to Gainesville.
 
SLU carries a .354 team batting average into Tuesday's contest. Lindsey Rizzo leads the team with a .517 batting average, followed by Kelci Bodin (.500), Aeriyl Mass (.444), Madisen Blackford (.433) and Ella Manzer (.385) are the other top hitters for average. Mass (12) and Rizzo (11) are the leading run scorers and share the team lead with eight steals apiece.
 
Briahna Bennett leads Southeastern with two home runs, while Manzer, Bodin and Karlee Kraft have one apiece. Manzer and Kraft share the team lead with nine RBI, while Manzer also paces the squad with four doubles. Blackford lead the Lady Lions with two triples.
 
Eight Southeastern pitchers have combined for a 3.60 team ERA. Alley McDonald (3-0, 2.14 ERA), MC Comeaux (2-0, 1.05 ERA), Sophie Hannabas (1-0, 2.40 ERA, 1 save), Heather Zumo (1-1, 5.73 ERA), Kraft (1-1, 3.94 ERA), Tanner Wright (0-0, 0.00 ERA), Shelby Sitzman (0-1, 17.18 ERA) and Anna Westberry (0-0, 9.00 ERA) all have seen action in the circle for SLU.
 
Fa Leilua (.467, 5 HR, 16 RBI) is the top hitter for a Bulldog squad that comes to Hammond with a .338 batting average. Mississippi State also has a 0.74 team ERA behind Grace Fagan (2-1, 1.53 ERA), Annie Willis (2-0, 0.00 ERA) and Emily Williams (2-0, 0.41 ERA).

Following Tuesday's contest, Southeastern will play its next 11 games away from North Oak Park. The road swing starts this weekend with the Mardi Gras Mambo in Youngsville, Louisiana. Southeastern opens the tournament with a 3 p.m. game versus Middle Tennessee State on Friday.
