BATON ROUGE, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana cross country team had a solid showing with the men's and women's team each finishing third Friday night at the LSU Invitational at Highland Road Park.

Both races were 5K featuring SLU, LSU, Tulane, Nicholls and Southern.

On the men's side, SLU's
Anthony Cordero and
Adam Cortez had another good performance. Cordero, an El Paso, Texas native, finished fourth Friday and also finished second at the season-opening race at McNeese. Cortez, also from El Paso, recorded his third straight top-10 finish placing seventh.

Freshman
Thom Reynders, a Netherland native, finished 21
st to help the Lions to the third place finish.

On the women's side,
Sophie Daigle led the Lady Lions finishing third. Daigle, a junior, has been the top finisher for SLU in all three races this season. The Donaldsonville, Louisiana native also finished fifth at the McNeese Invitational and sixth at the Rice Invitational.

Breanna Bernard and
Tara Stuntz each ran well finishing eighth and 14
th respectively for the Lady Lions.

"It was another good performance from our top three on each side," said SLU cross country head coach
Corey Mistretta. "We just have got to get better with our four and five runners to narrow the gap. But overall we are working hard and getting better each week."
Â
SLU will have two weeks off before returning to action Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Mississippi College Invitational in Clinton, Mississippi.
