HOUSTON, Texas – Sophie Daigle and Adam Cortez each finished sixth for the Southeastern Louisiana cross country Friday night at the Rice Invitational meet.
 
Daigle, a junior from Donaldsonville, Louisiana, ran the 4K race in 14:18.55. The Ascension Catholic grad finished in the top 10 for the second straight meet following a fifth place finish at the McNeese Invitational Aug. 30 in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
 
Cortez, a junior from El Paso, Texas, finished the men's 6K race in 19.57.63. The Franklin High School grad is also off to a good start this year after finishing sixth at McNeese.
 
SLU's Anthony Cordero had a second straight solid showing. The junior finished 17^th in a time 20:12.85 after a second place finish at McNeese.  
 
Lamar's Jordan Rowe won the men's race while Khayla Paytel of Rice took home the women's title. Rice (men) and Houston (women) claimed the team championships.
 
The Lady Lions finished fifth in the final team standings while the SLU men finished seventh.
 
Next up, Southeastern will begin preparation for the LSU Invitational Friday, Sept. 27 in Baton Rouge, La.
