HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana track team will host the Strawberry Relays Saturday at the Southeastern Track Complex as they open the outdoor schedule.
The meet will begin with the women's 5000m race at 8 a.m. immediately followed by the men and will wrap up with the women's hammer throw at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Southeastern, Southern, Tulane, Troy, South Alabama, Xavier, Dillard and Louisiana College will compete in the event.
The Southeastern men will be looking to build off a terrific finish to the indoor schedule finishing second in the Southland Indoor Championships Monday in Birmingham, Alabama.
SLU's
D.J. Ruffin was the top performer winning the long jump and high jump. The senior from Gautier, Mississippi, also finished second in the 400m and anchored the 4X400 relay team to a third place finish.
For the women,
Ashley Davis set a Southland record winning the shot put with a mark of 54 feet, 7.25 inches. The junior from Watson, Louisiana will be in action Saturday at approximately 11 a.m.
Following Saturday's meet, Southeastern will be back in action Saturday, March 9 at the Bob Hayes Invitational in Lake Charles, Louisiana hosted by McNeese.
