HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's and women's track & field teams will make their way to the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships, with the three-day meet beginning Thursday in Nacogdoches, Texas, at Homer Bryce Stadium.
On Thursday, competition in the SLC Championships meet will start with the men's 100-meter dash preliminaries at 9:30 a.m. The women's hammer throw will kick off field events at 10 a.m. Thursday. Following Day 1, Friday's and Saturday's events will be livestreamed on ESPN+ at 5 p.m.
Entering the conference championships,
Onyah Favour has put together one of the strongest seasons in the Southland. Her 23.26 time in the 200-meter dash is the best in the SLC, while her 400-meter dash of 52.01 is the second-best among all Southland student-athletes. The latter performance earned her the Southland Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week award last week, her second weekly accolade of 2026.

Miriam Kauer,
Zoe Wilson, and Favour posted one of the top times in the Southland in the 4x400-meter relay. The group clocked a 3:40.29 mark to earn a program record, as well as the third-best time in the SLC. On the field,
Jordyn Taylor's triple jump of 11.48 meters (37'8") is the seventh-highest mark in the conference.
Jaydan Jackson's hammer throw of 49.63 meters (162'10") stands at 10
th in the SLC.
On the men's side,
Donald Butler holds the sixth-best high jump in the Southland, reaching a mark of 2.11 meters (6'11") at the LSU Alumni Gold meet in April.
Gerrit Visser's 60.27-meter (197'9") hammer throw ranks second in the conference.
Josh-Ty Brown (17.18m; 56'4") and
Porter Gibson (16.40m; 53'9") own the sixth and ninth-best marks in the SLC in the shot put, respectively.
Gibson,
Micah Miller, and Brown are seventh, eighth, and ninth in Southland Conference discus throws in 2026. Gibson's seventh-place throw traveled for 51.39 meters (168'7"), while Miller and Brown finished behind him with 51.22 meters (169') and 50.36 meters (165'3").
Christian Diggs has the eighth-best javelin throw in the SLC, notching a distance of 55.67 meters (182'8").
This week's meet will be important for the Lions looking to continue their seasons at the NCAA Division I East First Round. Student-athletes within the top-48 marks in the East Region will qualify for the meet. Prior to this week's conference championships, Favour's 400-meter dash of 52.01 is the 22
nd-best mark in the region. Butler's 2.11-meter (6'11") high jump is currently 34
th in the region.
After the Lions compete in Nacogdoches, Southeastern will send qualifying student-athletes to the NCAA Division I East First Round in Lexington, Ky. The meet will be held from Wednesday, May 27, through Saturday, May 30.
