BOSTON, Mass. – The Southeastern Louisiana track team will send nine distance runners to the David Hemery Valentine Indoor Invitational Friday and Saturday at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.
Sophie Daigle (3000m) and
Lindsey Hutcheson (1-mile) will compete for the SLU women.
Zach Barthel (3000m),
Reed Callegan (800m),
Anthony Cordero (3000m),
Adam Cortez (5000m), Parker McBride (800m),
Grant O'Callaghan (3000m) and
Bryant White (3000m) will be in action for the SLU men.
Daigle, a sophomore from Donaldsonville, Louisiana, will run the 3000m. The Ascension Catholic grad holds the SLU record in the outdoor 3000m by nearly 13 seconds running a 10:42.93 at the McNeese Relays last year. She ran a personal best 10:33.44 at the Southland Indoor Championships in 2018.
O'Callaghan, a junior from Flowery Branch, Georgia, finished fourth in the 3000m at the Southland Conference Indoor Championships last year. The Flowery Branch High School grad looks to continue his momentum from the cross country season where he finished in the top eight in all five events.
"We're getting closer to the conference championship," said second-year SLU track head coach
Corey Mistretta. "We are giving the kids a chance to go run and at a place where the times are usually good because it's a fast track and the climate control of the building is terrific."
SLU's next full squad meet will be Friday, Feb. 15 at the LSU Twilight in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
