BATON ROUGE, La. –
Alexia Stein (weight throw), Jamira Patterson (400m) and Ashley Davis (shotput) were victorious for the Southeastern Louisiana track team at the LSU Twilight Invitational Indoor Meet Friday at Carl Maddox Field House.
 
The field included SLU with fellow Southland members New Orleans, Nicholls, Northwestern State and McNeese. Host LSU, Tulane, William Carey, Xavier, Mobile, Mississippi College, Meridian (CC) and Hinds (CC) were also in the meet.
 
Stein, a junior,  won the women's weight throw. The Baldwin City, Kansas native threw 55 feet, 11 inches (17.04m) setting a personal best. SLU junior Grace Walford took home second place behind Stein.
 
The Lady Lions swept the shot put event with Davis winning, Stein finished second and Kristian Jackson was third. Davis, a Watson, Louisiana native, won convincingly with a 55-0.75 mark clinching her third shot put victory of the season.
 
Patterson won the women's 400m (57.25). The Kileen, Texas native edged UNO's Ja Nai Cameron (57.48) to claim the title. SLU's Maya Jackson finished third setting a personal best of 58.54.
 
For the men, three-time NCAA Championship qualifier Devin King (pole vault) and D.J. Ruffin (long jump) each finished second.
 
King, the senior from Kentwood, Louisiana, was edged by LSU's Mondo Duplantis (NCAA record holder). King's final mark was 18-1.75 (5.53m) while Duplantis finished with an 18-7.5 (5.68m).
 
Junior Justin Taylor finished third (8.31) in the 60m hurdles just missing his personal best of 8.20.
 
Next up, the Lions will prepare for the Southland Conference Indoor Championships beginning Saturday, Feb. 23 in Birmingham, Alabama.
