HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team will continue its road swing with a pair of non-conference matches this week.
SLU (2-2) opens the week's action with a 1 p.m. match at Jackson State (2-7) on Friday. On Saturday, the Lions will be in Monroe, Louisiana to take on ULM (1-1) at noon.
Southeastern is coming off a hard-fought 4-2 defeat at UL Lafayette last Saturday.
Ceci Mercier (2-0) and
Putri Insani (2-1) lead SLU in singles victories, while
Katya Cornejo (1-1),
Flory Bierma (1-2) and
Bernadette Dornieden (1-2) each have wins to their credit this spring.
In doubles play, all three of the Lions' primary duos have 2-1 marks. Insani teams with
Ximena Yanez on No. 1, Bierma and Cornejo pair up on court 2, while the doubles draw is rounded out by Dornieden and
Himani Mor.
Jackson State will be playing its 10
th match of the spring with its wins coming versus Florida A&M and Mississippi Colllege. Last spring, SLU earned a 5-2 victory over the Tigers in Jackson.
ULM is just getting started this spring, as the Warkhawks opened dual match play with a 7-0 loss at Arkansas, before shutting out Alcorn State, 4-0. Southeastern will be looking to avenge a 4-0 loss to ULM last March in Hammond.
Southeastern will close out its road swing in California next week, facing Santa Clara on Thursday and Cal State Northridge on Friday.
