HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will open the home portion of its 2019-20 schedule on Wednesday, hosting LSU Alexandria at 1 p.m. in the University Center.
The game between SLU (1-4) and the visiting Lady Generals (2-3) will be broadcast live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), online at
www.LionSports.net/listenlive and via the TuneIn Radio and Lions Game Day Experience apps.

Wednesday's game is a Cane's Challenge. If the Lady Lions score 60 or more points versus LSU-A, fans can redeem their game tickets or student coupons at their local participating Raising Cane's to receive a free combo with the purchase of another of equal or greater value.
The first 150 fans will receive a trading card featuring the Southeastern Louisiana coaching staff, courtesy of PRIDE.
For the month of November, Southeastern Athletics and LA Child Welfare Training Academy are collecting unwrapped toys for children in foster care at home men's and women's basketball games. Fans who drop off toys will receive a voucher for a discounted ticket. The types of toys needed include dolls, puzzles, gift cards, sports equipment, bikes, skateboards, books, headphones, board games, video games and arts and crafts.
Southeastern ended its season-opening five-game road trip on Sunday with a 65-52 victory over ULM. The Lady Lions forced 23 turnovers on the way to its first victory of the season.
In the victory,
Morgan Carrier led SLU with 19 points, while
Celica Sterling and
Charliee Dugas added 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Alexius Horne paced the Lady Lions with six assists and three steals.
Southeastern averages 57.2 points per game.
Jyar Francis tops the squad's scoring leaders with 13.5 points per game, followed by Sterling (11.0 ppg), Horne (9.2 ppg), Carrier (7.4 ppg) and
Caitlyn Williams (6.3 ppg).
Horne is SLU's top playmaker with 4.8 assists per contest.
Aminat Jubril (5.8 rpg) and Williams (4.5 rpg) are the top rebounders for the Lady Lions.
Southeastern is forcing 20.0 turnovers and allowing 62.8 points per contest. Horne (12 steals) and Sterling (10 steals) have been the most active defenders of the season.
Wednesday's game is an exhibition game for the visiting Lady Generals. LSUA opened the season splitting home-and-home series with Dillard and Loyola, before falling to Southern-New Orleans, 93-86, in its most recent outing.
Wednesday will be a homecoming for two members of the LSU Alexandria program.
Courtney Dawsey played her first two seasons for her hometown university at Southeastern, before the St. Thomas Aquinas High School alum transferred to LSUA. Lady General head coach Bob Austin was previously an assistant coach for the Lady Lions.
Playing with a short bench, LSU Alexandria features four players averaging in double figures in Kelsey Thaxton (18.0 ppg), Ciera Daniels (15.4 ppg), Kendriana Washington (13.4 ppg) and Dawsey (12.8 ppg). Daniels is averaging a double-double with 10.2 rebounds per game, while Brittany Hall (9.0 apg) and Dawsey (5.0 apg) are the team's best distributors.
Southeastern and its in-state foe will be meeting for the first time in school history. The Lady Lions defeated LSUA, 96-78, in an exhibition prior to the 2017-18 season. Williams led the way with 20 points and 23 rebounds in that victory.
