HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana track program added sophomore long sprinter and multiple state champion Maya Jackson to the 2018 recruiting class.
Jackson, a transfer from Portland State, was named All-Academic Big Sky in 2017.
She won three consecutive state titles in the 400-meter sprint from 2014-16 for Northwest High School in Seattle, Washington. Jackson also placed third in the state in the 200 meters as a senior, and fifth in the 100 meters.
"I recruited her out of high school pretty heavily," said SLU head track coach
Corey Mistretta. "She chose a different route initially but I'm glad to finally get her here. She will definitely help bolster the team. I'm looking forward to what she will bring to the track family."
Jackson set the district meet record winning the 400 meters in 56.69 seconds as a senior. She also won the district title in the 200 meters.
