HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana hosts No. 13-ranked Southern Miss at 6 p.m. Tuesday on Study Break Night at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
The first 200 Southeastern students through the gates to see the Lions (25-15) will receive a free pack to ease the stress of finals. Several student-exclusive promotions are planned for those in attendance.
Tuesday's game against Southern Miss (24-11) is also a Cane's Challenge contest. When the Lions score four or more runs, fans can take their game ticket or student coupon to their local participating Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers to receive a free combo with the purchase of another of equal or greater value.
The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM, and worldwide online or through either the Radio FX or TuneIn apps. Fans can also keep up with all the action through live statistics, streaming video or by following @SLUathletics on Twitter. Southeastern junior right-hander
Mason Knopp (3-1, 3.11) is slated to oppose Golden Eagle righty Jarod Wright (2-1, 5.49).
Cody Grosse (.310) and
Drew Avans (.309) pace Southeastern's offensive attack. Avans leads the team with seven home runs and a conference-high 18 stolen bases.
Kyle Schimpf's 33 RBI rank second in the Southland.
The Lions are hitting .241 collectively, with 51 doubles, 10 triples and 26 home runs. Their 100 stolen bases rank third nationally. Southeastern's pitching staff, which has compiled a 3.49 ERA, has struck out 317 batters through 358.1 innings of work and issued the fifth-fewest walks per nine (2.64) in the nation. Opponents are hitting .239 off Lion pitching.
Southeastern has dropped five of its last six games, while the Golden Eagles have alternated wins and losses over their last 10 games.
Luke Reynolds (.364), Matt Wallner (.352), Hunter Slater (.336) and Gabe Montenegro (.302) are Southern Miss' top hitters. Wallner leads the team with nine home runs and 41 RBI. Fred Franklin has stolen a team-high nine bases.
The Golden Eagles are hitting .289 as a team, with 63 doubles, six triples, 38 home runs and 29 stolen bases. Southern Miss pitchers have combined for a 3.75 ERA and 318 strikeouts in 310 innings pitched. Opponents are hitting .251 off the Golden Eagles' arms.
Southeastern returns to Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field for a pair of games against rival Nicholls Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m.

General Admission tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for children (ages 3-12). Tax is included in the price of admission. Southeastern students are admitted free with a valid university ID card.

ALUMNI REUNION
The annual reunion of Southeastern Louisiana baseball alumni is scheduled for Saturday and will be held in conjunction with Super Lion Saturday, a celebration of all things Southeastern Athletics.
A tailgate party on the first floor of the Strawberry Stadium parking garage is slated for 4 p.m. Food, drinks and an opportunity to sign up for the new S Club will be available at the reunion. Baseball alumni in attendance will be recognized in conjunction with the Southeastern-Colonels matchup.

Fans interested in becoming active supporters of the baseball program are encouraged to join the Diamond Club. Lion baseball alums are encouraged to join the exclusive S Club, which is restricted to Southeastern athletic letter winners. S Club members also gain membership in the Diamond Club.
