HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana track and field teams will not have far to go to open their outdoor season on Friday.

"We're taking a small crew," Southeastern head coach
Corey Mistretta said. "After our big weekend at Conference, we had a lot of personal bests and a lot of kids are still a little tired, a little sore, so we're not taking a full team. We're bringing a lot of the people that didn't run at conference and just a few other people, some of our low hurdlers and javelin throwers. They've been champing at the bit to go compete because they don't compete indoors. We're looking to just go out there and see where the kids are. I think you will see we are continuing to improve and catching up from the winter break. I'm excited about it and I think it will be good for us."
Southeastern is scheduled to compete at the McNeese Bob Hayes Invitational in Lake Charles next Saturday.
