HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's and women's indoor track and field teams will return to the site of their season opener when they compete at the LSU Bayou Bengal Friday in the Carl Maddox Fieldhouse in Baton Rouge.
Southeastern previously competed at LSU at the Purple Tiger Invitational on Jan. 5.
The Lions and Lady Lions will be joined Friday by host LSU; Southland Conference rivals New Orleans and Northwestern State; Florida, Grambling, UL Lafayette, ULM, Southern, Southern-New Orleans, Tulane, Alcorn State, Hinds, Meridian, Southern Mississippi and Texas A&M Kingsville.
Field events are scheduled to start at 11 a.m. with track events set to get underway at 2 p.m. A link to live stats, provided by LSU, will be available on the Southeastern track and field schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
"We're excited to be at a venue like that against some really, really good competition," said Southeastern head coach
Corey Mistretta, whose teams competed at the McNeese Indoor Invite II and KMS Invitational last weekend. "After last week, it's about knocking the dust off a little bit. We'll have a lot of first-timers getting out there. We should expect to see some much more improved performances this week going into that competition."
Sophomore
Grant O'Callaghan and junior
Stevon Crooks both received honorable mention All-Southland Conference Athlete of the Week honors on Wednesday for their performances at McNeese. O'Callaghan set a personal best in winning the 3,000 meters while Crooks, competing in his first meet as a Lion after transferring from Barton, was the top collegian and placed second overall in the shot put.

Justin Taylor all recorded top 10s at the KMS Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama this past Sunday.
Resias heads into this week with the second-best 60-meter time in the Southland. Crooks is tied for the second-best shot put while O'Callaghan is third in the 3,000. Bowleg (400 meters) and Taylor (60-meter hurdles) are both seventh in their respective events.
On the women's side, Davis is second in the conference in the shot put while freshman Vigdis Jonsdottir is 10
th in the weight throw.
Southeastern will next compete at the Samford Open in Birmingham next Friday and Saturday.
