PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team continued its fall season at this week's UWF Fed Cup Invitational on the University of West Florida campus.
The tournament was the third of the fall for the Lions. Southeastern head coach
Jason Hayes continues to be encouraged from what he's seen from his ever-improving roster.
"We've really been pleased with how we've performed in each of our three tournaments this fall," Hayes commented. "We played well against good competition this week and we're getting closer to where we need to be."
The name of the game is improvement for Hayes and his squad.
"We left Pensacola a better team than when we arrived and that's all you can ask for during the fall," Hayes said. "This was an important trip for us both on and off the court. We not only didn't have anybody who didn't play well this week, but we became more of a tight-knit group, which is just as important."
Southeastern had several players with standout performances in the Sunshine State. Senior
Ceci Mercier was undefeated in singles play, while freshman
Putri Insani and sophomore
Ximena Yanez both also picked up multiple victories.
Southeastern will return home and close out the fall by hosting the George E. Fourmaux Fed Cup Invitational on Oct. 26-28 in Hammond.
"We're going to take these three weeks and continue to work hard," Hayes stated. "We have an opportunity to finish the fall on a high note on our home court and we want to take advantage of that chance."
