HAMMOND, La. – Playing against her former team, Southeastern Louisiana junior infielder Rebecca Skains hit a walk-off RBI single to give the Lady Lion softball team an 8-7 victory over LSU Eunice in a 10-inning exhibition Friday evening at North Oak Park.

Kinsey Nichols led the Lady Lions with two runs batted in apiece.
SLU finished with 13 hits on the night, as senior infielder
Mahalia Gibson paced the Lady Lion attack with a 4-for-5 performance. Skains and senior outfielder
Maddie Edmonston also had two hits apiece for Southeastern. Sophomore
Jaquelyn Ramon and freshman Camryn Flanagan scored two runs apiece for the Lady Lions.

Rachel Hayes earned the win, striking out three and not allowing an earned run in two innings of work. Senior

Alley McDonald also each had a pair of scoreless innings in the circle.
Southeastern fell behind, 6-0, before finally breaking through in the bottom of the sixth inning. Edmonston led off the frame with an infield single and later scored on an RBI groundout by Nichols. Gibson and Skains followed with back-to-back RBI doubles, then Skains would score on an RBI single by freshman Ella Manzer.
Freshman pinch runner Cameron Beal would score the inning's last run, racing home after senior
Carlie Whittington got caught in a run down. Whittington sacrificed herself on the base paths to allow Beal to cut the lead to 6-5.
SLU took the lead for the first time in the bottom of the seventh inning. RBI singles by Ramon and Nichols gave the Lady Lions a 7-6 advantage.
LSU-E would tie the game with an unearned run in the top of the 10
th inning, but SLU answered with the game-winner in the bottom of the 10
th. Gibson singled and moved to second on an error before giving way to Flanagan on the base paths. Skains followed with a sharp single up the middle, easily scoring the speedster from Hammond with the game-winning run.
Southeastern will continue its fall schedule on Saturday, facing Jones County Junior College at 2 p.m. and LSU Alexandria at 4 p.m. JCJC and LSU-A will open the day's action at 12 p.m.
