Rain Washes Out Lions’ Tuesday game, Southeastern Hosts West Virginia Wednesday

Pack the Pat still slated for Wednesday

HAMMOND, La. – Tuesday's midweek contest between Southeastern Louisiana and West Virginia was officially wiped off the schedule because of heavy rain. The two teams are still scheduled to play Wednesday's originally scheduled contest.
 
Fans who purchased single-game tickets for Tuesday's contest can contact the Southeastern Athletics Ticket Office for refund information at (985) 549-5466 or 1-866-LION-TIX. Ticket office hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Fridays.
 
Wednesday's regularly scheduled contest against the Mountaineers (7-4) is the annual Pack the Pat game with students receiving a free t-shirt and free food courtesy of Chick-Fil-A of Hammond while supplies last.
 
Southeastern (7-4) swept through the Cox Diamond Invitational in Pensacola, Florida, this past weekend, defeating South Alabama, Seton Hall and Troy.
 
There will be no local radio coverage of Wednesday's contest.

Drew Avans (.395), Taylor Schwaner (.316) and Jacob Seward (.295) lead Southeastern at the plate. Avans, Ryan ByersCarson Crites, Derrick MountScottie Sanders and Schwaner have each homered. Schwaner, a junior from New Orleans, owns a team-best 13 RBIs and six stolen bases. The Lions are hitting .251 as a team, with 18 doubles, three triples, six home runs and 22 stolen bases.

Southeastern's pitching staff enters the game with a 4.69 ERA, fanning 81 batters through 94 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .257 off Lion pitching.
 
West Virginia dropped 2-of-3 games at Tulane over the weekend.
 
Jimmy Galusky (.400), Marques Inman (.393), Kyle Davis (.353) and Jackson Cramer (.349) lead West Virginia at the plate. Cole Austin has hit a team-high three home runs and Cramer leads the squad with 13 RBIs. The Mountaineers are hitting .323 as a team, with 23 doubles, four triples, 12 home runs and nine stolen bases.
 
West Virginia's pitching staff enters the game with a 4.80 ERA, fanning 96 batters in 95.2 innings of work. Opponents are hitting .243 off Mountaineer pitching.
 
Southeastern opens Southland Conference play this weekend, as they take on in-state league foe New Orleans in a split three-game series. Friday's 6:30 p.m. contest and Sunday's 1 p.m. series finale will be held in New Orleans, while the Privateers visit the Pat Saturday at 2 p.m. The series opener will be televised live on Cox Sports Television.
