SLU Opens Home Stand Versus Southern on Tuesday

Match is first of four straight at home for Lions

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team will open a four-match home stand on Tuesday, hosting Southern at 2 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.

Southeastern (3-9) will be looking to sweep the season series from the visiting Lady Jaguars (7-8). The Lions defeated Southern, 4-2, on Feb. 16 in Baton Rouge.

In the first meeting, Southern jumped out to a 1-0 lead by taking the doubles point. Juniors Fleur Holtkamp and Dalina Dahlmans won for SLU on the No. 1 court, but the Lady Jags took the early lead with wins on the bottom two courts.

SLU rallied in singles play, winning four of the five singles matches that were played to completion. Lion juniors Holtkamp (No. 2), Dany Raygadas (No. 1), Madina Vorotnikova (No. 5) and Natalie Duran (No. 6) all won their singles matches to help Southeastern to the victory.

Following Tuesday's match, the Lion tennis team will take part in Super Lion Saturday on April 1. SLU will host Incarnate Word on Saturday for a 12 p.m. Southland Conference match at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
