HUNTSVILLE, Texas – A trio of Southeastern Louisiana athletes will look to improve upon their season marks in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA East Preliminaries at the Sam Houston State Last Chance Meet Saturday.
Junior sprinter
Maverick Bowleg, senior pole vaulter
Addison Martinez and junior thrower
Nicole Delesdernier are scheduled to compete at the meet held at SHSU's Bowers Stadium. They will be looking to join sophomore pole vaulter
Devin King, senior high jumper
Clarence Robinson, senior thrower
Jermisha Frazier and senior sprinter
Sharrona Williams as NCAA qualifiers. The top 48 in each event qualify.
"They're close and we just felt they deserved another opportunity," Southeastern head coach
Sean Brady said.
The women's pole vault is among the field events scheduled to start at 11 a.m. The women's discus is set for 3:30 p.m. Bowleg's 200-meter dash is scheduled for approximately 4:30 p.m. No live scoring is currently planned but final results, via Sam Houston, will be available at
www.lionsports.net.
Bowleg comes into the meet with a season-best time of 21.51 seconds in the 200. Martinez has cleared 12-1.5 in the pole vault, while Delesdernier has a top javelin throw of 143-11, which is currently 55
th in the East region.
Lion senior runner
Ashley Riley, who is red-shirting this season, is competing unattached in the 400 meters at 3 p.m. and the 800 at approximately 4:15 p.m.
The East Preliminaries are scheduled for May 27-28 in Jacksonville, Fla.
