TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Southeastern Louisiana track and field head coach
Sean Brady will have to update the records board outside the team's offices again this week.
Senior
Jermisha Frazier shattered her own team record in the hammer throw Thursday evening at the John Mitchell Alabama Relays with a second-place throw of 207 feet, 4 inches. Frazier threw 196-01 at the McNeese State Cowboy Relays on March 14, 2015 for the previous mark.
Thursday's record throw came on her final attempt after she had fouled on four of the previous tries. She had a throw of 188-3 on her third attempt.
It was the second straight meet the Kenner, Louisiana native established a school record. She threw 66-4.25 to set the new indoor weight throw standard at the LSU Twilight on Feb. 19.
Frazier finished behind Southern Illinois' DeAnna Price, who set a Sam Bailey Track and Field Stadium Record with a throw of 236-10.
In Thursday's only other event, Southeastern senior
Jimmy LeBlanc placed 13
th in the hammer throw with a mark of 170-8. Lion senior
Alex Young, competing unattached, won after throwing 229-11.
The women's javelin, which includes Lady Lions Nicole Delesdenier and
Addie Shafer, was postponed to Friday at 2 p.m. due to rain.
Other field events and track events are scheduled to start at 5 p.m. The meet wraps up Saturday with the field events starting at noon and the track events at 2 p.m.
