Natalie Duran (1-0) made her singles debut on Thursday. Duran clinched the Lion win on the No. 5 court by outlasting Nicki Neal, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3).
The final two singles matches were settled by third-set super tiebreakers. At No. 6, Kaltenbacher rallied past Raymond, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 10-7. Southern cut the final margin on the No. 3 court, as Rufaro Chirewa shook off a first set loss for a 5-7, 7-6 (9-7), 10-6 win over Mercier.
