THIBODAUX, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team was eliminated from the Southland Conference Women's Tennis Championships with a 4-0 quarterfinal loss to Stephen F. Austin Wednesday afternoon at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex.
Southeastern finished 14-9 in 2025, posting its most overall wins in a season since 2016. SFA (15-6) advances to Thursday's semifinal round at 6 p.m.
"We have a young team that is only going to get better moving forward," SLU head coach
Jason Hayes commented. "Today's result was not what we wanted, but overall this was a positive spring that we can build on in the future."
SFA, one of three teams that shared the SLC regular season championship, opened the match by taking the doubles point. The Lumberjacks won on courts 1 and 3 to take a 1-0 lead.
In singles play, Stephen F. Austin clinched the match with straight set wins on courts 2,5 and 6. On court 3, SLU's
Panatchakorn Suanarsa split sets, while
Aitana Darder lost the first set in a tie-breaker.
