HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana golf team returns to the course following a nearly three-week break when the Lions compete in the LSU David Toms Intercollegiate this weekend at the University Club in Baton Rouge.
The first two rounds are scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Sunday's final round is also set to tee off with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Live stats, provided by LSU and GolfStat, will be available on the Southeastern golf schedule page at
www.LionSports.net.
Southeastern, ranked 141
st in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index and 97

Also in the field are Southland Conference rivals McNeese and Central Arkansas, along with DePaul, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, Navy, Pennsylvania, South Alabama, Southern Illinois and Western Carolina.
"We need to have a good finish," Southeastern head coach
Jake Narro said. "There are going to be some good teams there and we need to improve our ranking. This is an event we can make a move in, so it's time to play good. We have a couple of guys playing good and a couple of our guys who should be playing good who are not playing as good. If we can keep a couple of them going and get a couple of them where they should be, we should be OK."
Southeastern will be competing for the first time since finishing sixth at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate on Sept. 20 with a 17-over-par 881. Sophomore
Bailey Smith, competing as an individual, tied for sixth at even-par 216. Sophomore
William Meyers tied for 11
th at 1-over 217 while sophomore
Joris Etlin shot a career-best 2-under 70 in the final round.
Smith (73.00 scoring average), Meyers (72.17), seniors
Paul Obermann (71.83) and
James Anstiss (74.17) and Etlin (75.00) will be the starting five for Southeastern this weekend. Junior
Wyatt Ott will compete for the first time in 2016 as an individual.
Southeastern is familiar with the par-72, 7,220-yard University Club tract, which Narro said is playing firm following the recent dry spell. The Lions played on the course twice in 2015-16, finishing sixth at the David Toms in the fall and second at the Tiger Classic during the spring season. Obermann tied for 12
th and tied for seventh in the two tournaments, respectively, while Meyers, a Baton Rouge native, finished 11
th at the Tiger Classic.
"This is a tournament we should do well in," Narro said. "The guys are ready. William is from there and James spent a lot of time there this summer so we're all familiar with the course."
Southeastern closes out its fall schedule at the ULM Duck Commander Intercollegiate in El Dorado, Ark. Nov. 7-8.
