SUGAR LAND, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's golf team sits in a tie for fifth place after Monday's opening day of the Colin Montgomerie-HCU Invitational at Sweetwater Country Club.
Southeastern shot eight-over par for the day and sits in a three-way tie in the team standings with Southland Conference foes New Orleans and East Texas A&M after the tournament's first 36 holes. Howard (-21) sits atop the team standings, carrying a 13-stroke lead into Tuesday's final round.
Griffin Dorr shot an opening round 69 on the par-71 course and finished the day in a tie for 11
th place at two-under par for the day to lead the Lions.
Noah Bumgarner joined his fellow senior teammate under par, finishing tied for 13
th place at -1.
Colby Sullivan (+6, T39th),
Lorenzo Palmieri (+7, T42nd) and
David Marsh (+10, T58th) also represented the Lions Monday. Howard's Francisco Perez (-13) has a four-stroke lead in the individual standings.
SLU, UNO, East Texas A&M and North Dakota will be paired together for Tuesday's final round, which tees off at 8:30 a.m. Live scoring, provided by host HCU, will be accessible at
