Match 1 - SLU 7, Alcorn 0Match 2 - SLU 4, Alcorn 0HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana tennis team opened the spring in impressive fashion on Friday, winning a pair of matches over non-conference foe Alcorn State at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
Southeastern (2-0) opened the day with a 7-0 victory over the visiting Lady Braves. In the nightcap, the two teams agreed to end the match when it was decided with Southeastern earning a 4-0 victory.
Sophomores
Dany Raygadas, Ceci Mercier and
Lucia Bustamante each were 2-0 in singles and doubles play to lead the Lions. Southeastern was 6-0 in doubles and 9-0 in singles play on Friday.
SLU will continue its four-match home stand to open the spring on Saturday, Feb. 6, hosting Louisiana-Lafayette at 12 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
Match 1 – Southeastern Louisiana 7, Alcorn State 0In the opener, SLU rolled through doubles play. Junior
Margaux Kaltenbacher and Raygadas started the Lions off with a 6-1 victory over ASU's Aakansksha Punj and Marlene Maier on the No. 3 court.
The Lions clinched the match at No. 2, where Bustamante and Mercier were too much for the Lady Brave pair of Aida Kelic and Siobhan Ryan-Bovey. Southeastern completed the sweep on No. 1, as senior

Dalina Dahlmans defeated Ivana Boberic and Ekaterina Potapova, 6-4.
Villarreal made it 2-0 with a win on the No. 1 singles court, as Kelic retired down, 6-4, 3-0. Mercier pushed the advantage to 3-0, defeating Potapova, 6-1, 6-1, on the No. 4 court.
Bustamante clinched the victory for Southeastern at No. 5, besting Maier, 6-0, 7-5. On the No. 2 court, Dahlmans was too much for Ryan-Bovey in a 6-4, 6-4 victory.
Kaltenbacher grinded out a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 6 over Klavdija Bukovec. Raygadas rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, 10-4 win over Boberic at No. 3 to complete the shutout victory for SLU.

Match 2 – Southeastern Louisiana 4, Alcorn State 0In doubles play, Alcorn State switched its top two double teams from the opener, but the results were no different. At No. 1, Dahlmans and Villarreal finished first, completing a 6-2 win over Kelic and Ryan-Bovey. Raygadas and Kaltenbacher clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over Punj and Bukovec on the No. 3 court.
Bustamante and Mercier were tested on the No. 2 court, but ultimately outlasted the ASU duo of Potapova and Boberic to complete the doubles sweep.
The match was decided in singles play quickly. Bustamante gave Southeastern a 2-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Bukovec at No. 5. On court 3, Raygadas put the Lions on brink of victory, defeating Potapova, 6-0, 6-0. Seconds later, Mercier clinched the win with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Punj at No. 4.
