HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will look to continue its home winning streak on Thursday, when it hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a 7 p.m. Southland Conference contest in the University Center.

Chey Stewart is Thursday's Spotlight Player of the Game and the first 100 fans will receive a trading card featuring the Wylie, Texas native courtesy of PRIDE.
Thursday will also be a Cane's Challenge game. SLU Athletics Marketing and Promotions will offer fans an opportunity to win prizes and cash through the Bingo contest.
Though Southeastern has yet to earn a road win in 2014-15, the Lady Lions have posted a 6-1 record in games held in the University Center. SLU has won its last four home contests – including league wins over Sam Houston State and Houston Baptist. For Southeastern to continue that trend, it will have to cut down on the turnovers, as opponents scored 60 points off of 45 Lady Lion giveaways in consecutive losses at Lamar and Incarnate Word.
In Saturday's 82-70 loss at UIW, senior guard
Elizabeth Styles led SLU, posting her first career double-double with 21 points and a game-high 10 assists. Styles was joined in double figures by junior guard
Erica Hernandez (12 points), junior forward
Nanna Pool (10 points) and junior guard
Peaches Anderson (10 points).
Southeastern is averaging 63.8 points per game, as senior guard
Symone Miller, who has missed the last five games, is averaging a team-best 13.7 points per game. Miller is joined in double figures by Pool (12.0 ppg) and Styles (11.6 ppg). Styles also leads the Southland and ranks 15
th in the nation with 6.1 assists per game.
Southeastern features two of the top rebounders in the Southland Conference in Pool (9.4 rpg, 4
th) and senior forward
Jameika Hoskins (8.0 rpg, 6
th). Despite their front court's efforts, the Lady Lions are being out-rebounded by just over three boards per contest.
The Lady Lions must step up the efforts on the defensive end, as SLU ranks last in the Southland in scoring defense with 74.1 points per game allowed. Pool leads the team with 17 blocked shots, while Styles is averaging just under two steals per outing.
Pool is ninth on the school's career list with 633 points, while Styles is sixth with 415 assists and seventh in steals with 145. Miller, who needs 54 points to reach 1,000 career points, is eighth in school history with 89 three-point field goals made.
Southeastern will face an Islander squad that is coming off a 75-59 win on Saturday at Nicholls. Junior guard Shay Weaver is fifth in the Southland with 16.6 points per game and is joined in double figures by senior forward Olivia Fouty (12.8 ppg) and sophomore forward Camesha Davis (10.4 ppg). Fouty is fifth in the league with 9.1 rebounds per contest, while junior guard Jennifer Ramirez averages a team-high 3.2 assists per outing.
Southeastern is 5-5 all-time versus the Islanders. Last season, SLU dropped an 83-54 decision in Corpus Christi.
Following Thursday's game, Southeastern will have a week off before hosting McNeese State on Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. in the University Center. The game will be broadcast live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the Internet at
www.LionSports.net, where live stats and a live video stream (LionVision subscription required) will be accessible.
Anderson will be the Spotlight Player of the Game versus McNeese State and the first 100 fans will receive a trading card featuring the Magnolia, Mississippi native courtesy of PRIDE.
Thursday will also be a Cane's Challenge game. If the Lady Lions top 60 points, fans can take their ticket stub or student coupon to the local area Raising Cane's to receive a free combo of equal or lesser value with the purchase of any combo.
