HAMMOND, La. – Northwestern State's Brett Underwood erased an 0-for-3 night at the plate Thursday driving in the eventual winning run with a two-out, two-run triple in the seventh inning as the Demons defeated Southeastern Louisiana, 4-2, in Southland Conference action at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.

Southeastern (31-23, 16-12 Southland) had just rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth with a pair of runs off Demon starting pitcher Adam Oller (6-1).

Jameson Fisher and Andrew Godbold produced back-to-back singles to open the inning. After a pair of sacrifice bunt attempts rolled foul, Sam Roberson moved both runners into scoring position with a slow chopper to the first baseman.

Brett Hoffman followed with a line-drive single up the middle to plate Fisher, cutting the Northwestern State (31-22, 19-9 Southland) lead in half. Godbold scored on Daniel Midyett's fielder's choice grounder to the pitcher, tying the game as Oller attempted to start a double play at second base.

Oller earned the win, allowing a pair of runs in six innings of work, and Cameron Brewer picked up his third save of the season. Tate Scioneaux (6-6) suffered the loss, allowing three runs in 6.1 innings of work.

The second game of the series is a $5 Friday at the ballpark with all general admission tickets priced at $5. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be on hand selling replicas of the special pink logo hats the Lions wore during the Geaux Pink game (May 3).

Friday, Northwestern State is slated to start junior righty Josh Oller (3-1, 3.40) to oppose Lion senior right-hander Sean Kennel (4-3, 3.71) at 6 p.m.
