HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana opens a six-game baseball homestand Tuesday at 6 p.m. with a Cane's Challenge contest against Jackson State at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
If the Lions score five or more runs in the game, fans presenting their ticket stub (or student coupon), and purchasing a combo at a participating Raising Cane's, will receive a free combo of equal or lesser value (through the following day).
There will also be free food at the game for Southeastern students, while supplies last. Students can gain free admittance by presenting their student ID at the grandstand gate along the third-base line on N. General Pershing St.
The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM, online and either the KSLU or TuneIn Radio smartphone apps. Fans can keep up with the contest through live statistics or by following SLUathletics on Twitter. Streaming video is available on LionVision, Southeastern's subscription-based video stream. Southeastern (14-9) had its five-game winning streak snapped Sunday at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 11-3.

Brett Hoffman leads the team with eight doubles and 18 RBIs, while Godbold has one home run to go with 17 RBIs.
The Lions are hitting .277 as team and have been successful on 41-of-61 stolen base attempts. Southeastern's pitching staff has compiled a 2.80 ERA, fanning 168 batters in 206 innings pitched.
Senior right-hander
Sean Kennel (2-2, 2.63) earns the starting nod for the Lions. Jackson State has not announced a starter.
Tilur Smith (.377) and Nick Marigny (.333) lead the Tigers at the plate. Smith has hit a team-leading nine doubles, while Bryce Taylor owns a team-high two home runs and 20 RBIs. Jackson State is hitting .259 as a team and has been successful on 36-of-56 stolen base attempts.
The Tiger pitching staff has compiled a 3.48 ERA, fanning 168 batters in 240.1 innings pitched.
Jackson State (17-9) was swept at home in a three-game conference series this past weekend by Alabama State.
Following the contest, Southeastern will host Southland Conference-newcomer Houston Baptist, Friday through Sunday, in three-game series.
