Lady Lions Return Home to Host UCA

SLU, Bears battle at 4 p.m. on Friday

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's soccer team will be back at home for the first time in nearly three weeks when it hosts Central Arkansas in a 4 p.m. Southland Conference match Friday at the Southeastern Soccer Complex.
 
Fans will be able to receive updates from the match between the Lady Lions (10-3, 3-2 Southland) and the visiting Bears (5-5-2, 1-2-1 Southland) via Twitter by following @SLUAthletics or @SLUSoccer.
 
With the conference season reaching its midpoint, Southeastern is currently third in the Southland Conference standings. The top six teams will advance to next month's Southland Conference Tournament in Beaumont, Texas.
 
Southeastern enters Friday's match having scored 41 goals on the season. Sophomore Bri Singh leads the team with 11 goals. Freshman Maggie Ramsey (seven) and junior Kayla Vera (five) are the other top goal scorers.
 
Sophomore Katie Noonan leads the team with nine assists. Ramsey and junior Gisenia Utreras follow with five assists each.
 
In only her second season with the program, Singh is 10th on the school's career list with 20 goals scored. Singh's 11 goals are the ninth-most in a season in school history, while Noonan's assist total is the seventh-highest in a season ever by a Lady Lion.
 
The back line of senior Chelsea Villaescusa, junior Erin Christ, sophomore Alexsis Cable and senior Jen Babcock have helped SLU hold opponents to nine goals this season. Sophomores Hope Sabadash (0.54 goals against average) and Casey Jeanfreau (1.05 GAA) have split time in net for Southeastern and combined for eight shutouts.
 
UCA heads to Hammond coming off a 1-0 loss to Incarnate Word last Sunday. Sophomore Shelby Wilson, sophomore Allie Coleman, freshman Dayna Mounie share the team lead with four goals. Senior Cassie Lange leads the team with four assists. Freshman Anna Hughes has handled the majority of work in goal, entering Friday's contest with a 1.59 goals against average.
 
Following Friday's match, Southeastern will head back on the road. Next Friday, SLU will be at Stephen F. Austin for a 7 p.m. match in Nacogdoches, Texas.
