SLU Closes Road Swing at Lamar

Lady Lions looking to improve on 10-2 record and 3-1 league mark

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's soccer team will close out a three-match road swing on Sunday with a 1 p.m. Southland Conference match at Lamar.

Live stats for the match between the Lady Lions (10-2, 3-1 Southland) and the host Cardinals (3-6-1, 1-1-1 Southland) will be accessible at LionSports.net, where a live video stream (LU Big Red Network subscription required) will also be available.

Southeastern will be looking to bounce back from its first Southland loss last Sunday. Sophomore Bri Singh gave the Lady Lions the early lead, but Abilene Christian rallied with two goals for a 2-1 victory.

Singh leads the Southland Conference with 11 goals scored. Freshman Maggie Ramsey follows with seven goals, while junior Kayla Vera has found the net five times. A total of 13 Lady Lions have combined to account for the team's 41 goals.

Sophomore Katie Noonan leads the team with nine assists. Ramsey and junior Gisenia Utreras both have five assists, while senior Chelsea Villaescusa has four assists.

In only her second season with the program, Singh is 10th on the school's career list with 20 goals scored. Singh's 11 goals are the ninth-most in a season in school history, while Noonan's assist total is the seventh-highest in a season ever by a Lady Lion.

Villaescusa, senior Jen Babcock, junior Erin Christ and sophomore Alexsis Cable have helped Southeastern hold opponents to seven goals this season. Sophomores Hope Sabadash (0.54 GAA) and Casey Jeanfreau (0.71 GAA) have split time in the net for SLU.

Lamar is led by senior Kimmy Albeno's five goals. Junior Jannet Hernandez and senior Kristin Bos share the team lead with three assists. Senior Bailey Fontenot (1.68 GAA) has handled the majority of the work in goal for the Cardinals.

Following Sunday's match, Southeastern will return home to host Central Arkansas at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10 at the Southeastern Soccer Complex. Fans can receive in-match updates via Twitter at @SLUAthletics and @SLUSoccer.
