Lady Lions Travel to Tulane

Southeastern set to face Green Wave on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana women's basketball team will return to action on Tuesday, facing in-state foe Tulane at 7 p.m. at Devlin Fieldhouse.
 
Southeastern (1-2) will be playing its third straight road game versus an in-state opponent. The game between the Lady Lions and the host Green Wave (2-0) will be broadcast live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the Internet at www.LionSports.net, where live stats provided by Tulane, will also be accessible.
 
The Lady Lions will be looking to bounce back from an 87-77 loss at Louisiana-Monroe on Friday night. Southeastern had five players in double figures in the defeat, led by senior forward Aja Gibson's 20 points. Junior guards Symone Miller (19 points), Annessa De La Cruz (12 points) and Elizabeth Styles (10 points) also scored in double figures, while sophomore forward Nanna Pool (12 points, 11 rebounds) posted her second double-double of the season.
 
Southeastern is averaging 70.3 points per game and has four players averaging in double figures. Miller is currently sixth in the Southland Conference with 20.0 points per game and is joined in double figures by Pool (15.3 ppg), Gibson (15.0 ppg) and Styles (13.5 ppg). Pool leads the Southland with a 76 percent field goal percentage, while Styles is averaging a team-high 5.5 assists per contest.
 
The Lady Lions head into Tuesday's game with a plus-2.4 rebounding margin. Pool leads the league with 13.0 rebounds per game, while Gibson is averaging 8.0 boards per contest.
 
Defensively, the Lions are allowing 72.7 points and forcing 19.3 turnovers per outing. Styles leads the team with 2.5 steals per contest.
 
Tulane will be facing its third straight Southland Conference team to open the season. The Green Wave have defeated UNO, 81-46, and McNeese State, 74-49, thus far in 2013-14.
 
The Green Wave has a balanced offense averaging 77.5 points per game. Junior guard Jamie Kaplan, junior forward Adesuwa Ebomwonyi and freshman guard Leslie Vorpahl share the team lead with 15.0 points per game each. Kaplan also leads the team with 7.5 assists per game, while sophomore center Chinwe Duru paces the squad with 11.0 rebounds per contest.
 
Tulane leads the all-time contest, 13-6. The Green Wave defeated the Lady Lions, 85-57, in the last meeting during the 2010-11 season.
 
Southeastern will close out a four-game road swing on Friday. The Lady Lions will travel to Ole Miss for a 5 p.m. contest in Oxford, Miss.
