SAN MARCOS, Texas –
Greg Olsen went 4-for-4 to lead an 18-hit attack and Brandon Kimbrel tossed a complete-game three-hit shutout as Sam Houston State defeated Southeastern Louisiana, 12-0, in the Southland Conference Tournament on Wednesday at Bobcat Ballpark.

Southeastern (35-21) will face top-seeded Texas State (35-21) at noon on Thursday. SHSU (35-22), which won its 13th consecutive game in the Southland Conference Tournament dating back to 2007, will face Nicholls State at 7 p.m.

"Give them (SHSU) all the credit in the world," Southeastern head coach Jay Artigues said. "They did a super job. They came out swinging the bats and were very aggressive. Every mistake we made, they capitalized on it."

SHSU took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Ryan Mooney led off with a single, moved to second on an error and scored on Chris Andreas' single. The Bearkats added three runs in the second off Southeastern starter Tyler Watkins (10-4), highlighted by a two-run triple by Luke Plucheck before Daniel Nottebart scored on Olsen's RBI single in the third to give SHSU a 5-0 lead.

Andreas hit a leadoff home run in the fifth to give the Bearkats a 6-0 lead before Kevin Miller scored on an Olsen RBI single. SHSU scored five runs in the seventh as Plucheck added his second two-run triple of the game while Olsen and Doug Oney added RBI singles.

Kimbrel (7-4) fanned five batters and held Southeastern hitless until Cody Gougler led off the third inning with a single. The Lions added singles in the fourth inning by Cass Hargis and Jonathan Pace, but Kimbrel kept Southeastern off the board getting 1-6-3 double play to end the fourth and retiring the last seven batters he faced.

Andreas and Nottebart each went 3-for-4 for SHSU while Miller was 2-for-3 and Plucheck 2-for-4.
